A private family is seeking a Full-Time Housekeeper to steward two residences, one in Manhattan and one in the Dutchess County area in NY. This is a hands-on, solo role for a polished professional who enjoys working independently, sets high presentation standards, and keeps a home running smoothly without reliance on a large team. The family is seeking a long-term fit. Regular travel between the Manhattan and Amenia residences is an essential function of this role; candidates must be able to commute several times per week.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistent daily cleaning with rotational deep cleans; keep all rooms orderly and guest ready

  • Use non-toxic methods and surface-appropriate techniques for hardwood, stone, fine furnishings, rugs, and high-value fixtures

  • Care for specialty items and collections with proper handling, storage, and documentation

  • Maintain simple systems and checklists; manage household supplies, inventories, and “never-out” items

  • Perform laundry, pressing, and steaming for garments and household linens; manage dry cleaning runs as needed

  • Monitor the home for maintenance needs; schedule and oversee service visits (HVAC, chimney, gutters, appliances, etc.)

  • Run local errands, receive deliveries, and complete light personal support on request

  • Communicate clearly with the family; coordinate calendars and access for vendors and service providers

  • Tackle project work during travel periods to advance seasonal organization and deep-clean goals

Requirements

  • Recent high-level housekeeping experience in private households with white-glove standards

  • Proven ability to operate as a team of one with excellent time management and attention to detail

  • Skilled in the care of delicate finishes, fine furnishings, and premium fixtures (training on household-specific items provided)

  • Strong laundry and finishing skills; confident with label reading, hand washing, and pressing

  • Professional demeanor, discretion, and clear written and verbal communication

  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between Manhattan and Dutchess County, NY (own car strongly preferred; if not, candidate must arrange dependable transport). Must be able to commute multiple times per week

  • US work authorization; strong references and ability to pass a comprehensive background check

Location: Week split between Manhattan, NY and Dutchess County

Schedule: Monday–Friday, core hours 9:00am–3:00pm, with flexibility for occasional early/late adjustments tied to family schedules, arrivals, and vendor access.

Salary: $45-$55/hour DOE plus compensation for travel time too and from residences

Employment is contingent upon a clear background check and verification of professional employer references.
